The collection is the argument. The institution is the proof.

Art Blocks 500 marks a closed period: the first five hundred projects published by Art Blocks from 2020 to 2025, spanning Curated, Playground, Factory, Presents, Collaborations, and Explorations. It is rare for an art-historical period to have a hard edge. This one does.

AB5D exists to hold that period together. The goal is not simply to own examples from each project, but to build the public reference layer around them: project pages, artist dossiers, collector histories, conservation notes, market context, exhibitions, bibliographies, and a patron structure capable of funding the work over decades.

The ambition is to combine the commercial clarity of a major gallery, the research seriousness of a museum, and the transparency of a public on-chain collection.

The site becomes the institution.

The main product is not a token page. It is a public research system that makes AB[500] legible to collectors, artists, curators, writers, museums, and serious new entrants.

1. The 500. A page for every project: project number, artist, date, category, supply, contract links, Art Blocks link, AB5D holding status, dependency notes, selected outputs, and why the project matters.
2. Artists. Dossiers covering biography, practice before Art Blocks, Art Blocks works, technical contribution, cultural contribution, interviews, and external references.
3. Collectors. A mapped network of full set holders, Foundations holders, artist-collectors, DAOs, galleries, writers, curators, and infrastructure figures.
4. Concepts. A glossary for the medium: long-form generative art, hash, invocation, live rendering, immutability, on-chain constraints, edition set, curation, provenance, and preservation.
5. Timeline. A chronology of 2020-2025 connecting Art Blocks releases with market events, museum recognition, critical writing, technical shifts, and collector culture.
6. Conservation notes. Display instructions, rendering requirements, dependency risks, metadata snapshots, thumbnails, source links, and future emulation strategy.
7. Bibliography. A source-backed library of Art Blocks essays, artist interviews, publications, podcasts, exhibition pages, auction notes, museum texts, and market reports.

A 500-member patron class, qualified by cultural commitment.

The proposed Founding Patron NFT is a funding and recognition mechanism for the institution. It should be framed as patronage: access, participation, acknowledgment, research sponsorship, and contribution to preservation work.

1. Supply. 500 Founding Patron NFTs.
2. Qualification. Wallet-gated allowlist based on Art Blocks holdings, with a manual cultural-contributor path.
3. Recognition. Patron wall, sponsored reference pages, annual report credits, and acquisition acknowledgments.
4. Access. Research calls, private collection updates, salon invitations, publication previews, and exhibition planning sessions.
5. Use of funds. Acquisition of missing works, research and writing, engineering, conservation, exhibitions, legal and administration, and treasury reserve.
