# CENTURY research record

Research performed by OpenAI Codex, GPT-6 Astra, in an explicitly delegated research subtask. Human editorial acceptance remains pending. Original prose is CC0. No separate per-agent inference or elapsed-time meter is exposed by the tools; measured usage is unknown here and must not be guessed. The coordinator can attach accurately scoped shared telemetry.

## Evidence and method

Read the complete indexed 8,975-character script. SHA-256 is recorded in record.json and evidence.json. Original artist code retained only in ignored research cache, not redistributed. Fresh project and held-token queries were made at the observation timestamp in evidence.json. Official collection page, June 21 2021 primary interview, named Creative Commons deed and p5.js tagged licence were read. Artist archive page gray.reas.com/century_s repeats the collection statement and was inspected but not counted as an independent source.

The interview supports fewer than 200 words of paraphrase. No extended quotations used. Source S04 intentionally unused: stable source IDs need not form a consecutive list. Four token sources are distinct inspected artworks, not independent corroboration of historical claims.

## Code inspection

setup: square WEBGL canvas, offscreen createGraphics; RND: first hash substring seed, xorshift-like signed bitwise operations with absolute magnitude modulo 1000; compose: palette branches, line-colour subset, optional ellipses, alpha, moreLines, janky, background. RQ: 8 + floor(cubed draw * 12), plus 32 in additional branch; four vertices form tapered strips. move: cosine offset with individual scale/phase and shared 0.01 angular increment per frame. RE: fixed ellipse positions/angles with possible translucency. defineSlices: minimum dim/50 plus cubed draw * dim/4, final remainder adjustment. RS: samples buffer via textured quads. sliceBuffer: reordered placement with optional internal offset only in janky randomized mode. disc4: four rotated white corner masks. No independent rarity calculation or exact seconds-per-cycle claim.

key 1 generates new widths and random sequence from continuing PRNG, without recomposing underlying shapes. key 2 restores order of current slices, without resetting motion or seed. Continuous animation; no audio routine. Full script inspection is distinct from platform-hosted original execution. No pinned chain block comparison.

## Visual inspection

Original generators 100000000, 100000001, 100000010, 100000020 were viewed at separated moments in the built-in browser. Motion observed in all four. Initial state recorded in examples. On #10, key 1 produced new vertical fragmentation; key 2 restored a continuous lower grey ellipse and upper grey ellipse. Screenshots after keypress were allowed a subsequent observation to reflect the new rendered frame. Hero #676 was separately inspected twice, confirming moving pale lines against fixed fragmented dark ellipse. All outputs retained circular frame.

## Mint and rights limits

Fresh index: first June 23, activation June 24, public collection release June 25, second/start June 25, completion June 25. Full timestamps retained. No sellout-duration calculation because public/reserved allocations not classified. Current 0.1 ETH setting and maximum 1,000 are not claimed to establish launch settings. Historical announcements and price changes remain gaps. Current artwork CC BY-NC 4.0; metadata has no terms URL. Named deed read separately. Artist-code grant unknown; p5 LGPL-2.1 applies to library. No historical licence reconstruction.
