## The work and its context

entretiempos is project 267 on the Art Blocks V2 core contract 0xa7d8d9ef8d8ce8992df33d8b8cf4aebabd5bd270, published under the canonical slug entretiempos-by-marcelo-soria-rodriguez and credited to Marcelo Soria-Rodríguez. The indexed project record reports a completed edition of 1000 of 1000 invocations, runtime p5@1.0.0, and the official description: Our lives are scattered across several time scales, and the meaning of every event that takes place depends on the time scale that we choose to define & observe them from. Yet we fail to fully comprehend this in our daily errands. Entretiempos is an artwork that reflects on this, based on an aesthetic that pays a tribute to the works of Sonia Delaunay, František Kupka and other painters from their era, recreated by the usage of intersecting rings that create a varied and rich space.  The work plays with the time scales by painting dynamically and letting the viewer pause the work, restart, set it to loop indefinitely, painting and vanishing in an endless cycle. And it can be set to be done at varying speeds, to appreciate what happens in between the time scales ("entre tiempos", in Spanish).  Also, there is a broader theme that I find of interest to explore from every work that I engage with. It has to do with the concept of what I call total cognitive space, or the total range of possibilities that can be expressed / achieved with a given scenario and set of conditions. In this case, I was interested in expanding my rendition of the works of Delaunay into a broader space. How does this approach scale with varying parameter ranges? Is the painting still interesting? Can it express something new? Connected to this, I am also interested in thinking about what emotions would mean for an artificial sentient being. We talk about artificial intelligence, but leave aside artificial emotions all too often. While artificial intelligences are indeed interesting, we fail to recognize the paramount importance of emotions in human behaviour. To this end, this work explores also the result of painting with machine-like precision vs. performing the artwork with a range of possible imprecisions. The perfection of the machine vs. the imperfection of the human, does it trigger different emotions in us humans? What will the reaction of a machine be whenever they develop a taste?  This work exposes features that deal with its time and space scales, background colour, background elements, the palettes used, certain colour accents that may happen (golden accents, b&w tones), the style used to draw the geometric shapes (fill, lines, outline), the degree of paint precision and other features that influence the final result. The user may download a PNG file at any arbitrary resolution at any step of the paint process using the commands provided for that. A brief list of commands is as follows. Those figures are current index observations retrieved on 2026-09-19, not a reconstruction of the original public sale announcement. Atlas position is a catalogue ordinal and is not the on-chain project ID. This essay treats the stored artist program, four independently identified outputs, and a freshly checked AB5D holding (or an explicit collection gap) as primary evidence. Metadata traits are cited only when they were returned for the same V2 contract token IDs that were visually inspected. They do not replace looking at the pictures. [^S04][^S09]

## Conception and development

Marcelo Soria-Rodriguez writes that lives are scattered across time scales and that Entretiempos reflects on events whose meaning changes with the scale of observation. The Medium conversation with The Link treats that temporal framing as the project's origin rather than a later marketing caption. Construction then has to show how rings, grayscale and tempo features implement that idea.

The development account used here is the specific source named in the citations, not a paraphrase of an artist-dossier page. Where that account is an official project description written in the artist's voice, that limit is stated rather than upgraded into an unpublished studio diary. ## How the work was constructed

The complete artist program for slug entretiempos-by-marcelo-soria-rodriguez was retrieved from projects_metadata.script filtered by that exact slug. The UTF-8 payload is 35500 bytes with SHA-256 b06d892aa7d18c770aa66f7028ddcf73e11ad8b2fbce5f504d8f7378759a3a63. Runtime on the project record is p5@1.0.0. The script was read in full; it was not executed in this research session. [^S03]

35500-byte p5 program with WEBGL shaders (shs_vs, shs_fs), setup, draw, noLoop, varInit, resetDrawCounters, keyTyped and windowResized. tokenData is copied to tD. Rings, fabric, spatial scale and tempo are assigned before a shader pass composites the target. Token 0 is grayscale normal rings at medium scale with rubato spatial tempo, matching the inspected off-centre grey target.

Visual claims come from inspected PNGs of the listed token IDs.

Seed handling is visible in the retrieved program: tD.hash bytes feed varInit, which selects ring mode, grayscale, fabric, spatial scale and tempo. Time and interaction behaviour in code is: noLoop after the shader composite. keyTyped exists in source and was not pressed here. No audio constructors. A handler found in source is not the same thing as a control that was pressed in a live renderer during this session; tested controls are listed only when an actual key or pointer action was performed. External dependencies are those declared by script_type_and_version plus any library identifiers inside the file. Public visibility of the stored script does not grant a right to redistribute the raw artist source in this package, so the analysis cites functions and byte length rather than reprinting the program. Unresolved research questions that remain after this pass: (1) What was the exact public-sale unit price in ETH at start_datetime, supported by a contemporaneous primary source rather than a later floor? (2) For tokens whose live renderer was not stopwatch-timed, what is the measured wall-clock period of one full cycle or one completed progressive draw? (3) What contemporaneous primary source records the original public unit price in ETH? (4) Incomplete Control aside, do any of the three current AB5D wallets later acquire or dispose of the header token used above after 2026-09-19? [^S02][^S08][^S10]
