# Geometry Runners initial research

Exact official indexed project 138 on 0xa7d8d9ef8d8ce8992df33d8b8cf4aebabd5bd270 retrieved with complete 25,470-byte script and five exact token records. Raw script remains ignored. Full reading and visual inspection are PENDING, not claimed complete.

Artist website https://www.richlord.com/ inspected through web tool. Describes freelance artist/animator, Houdini user and tutorial maker; portfolio includes Procedural Architecture (2020), Paper Creatures (2021), Vertebrae Collection (2021), and earlier procedural work. Supports broader procedural animation practice only, not direct Geometry Runners development claims.

## Complete code reading

Seed is first eight hash hexadecimal digits, feeding shift/XOR random generator with discrete thousandth return values. Ten class definitions create thirteen selectable motion types; alternate modes reuse classes. Arrangement chooses scattered, grid, line, triangle, leader/follower and single configurations. Random scattered layout does 142 separation iterations; this is initial spacing, not ongoing collision physics.

Each runner updates phase from elapsed seconds divided by its travel-distance/speed period. It then uses explicit positions/quaternions/pivots and eased phase powers to roll, tip, fold or slide. Most subtract phase travel from z after their local movement, retaining overall station while two tiled ground meshes scroll by elapsed time times speed modulo10. No rigid-body solver/gravity/contact engine found. Class C_C uses polygon tipping with fourth-power phase; C_F progressively angles stacks; C_G uses fourth-root phase translation; these distinct equations should be explained in visual terms only after viewing.

Buffer geometry builders bI/bB/bC define faceted sphere, box and cylindrical/partial-cylindrical forms; vertex colours and dark edge strips. W mode omits interiors and changes materials to double-sided basic. Twenty-four six-colour palettes; first ground, last lines, middle runner colours. Narrow-angle perspective camera (3.8deg) resembles axonometric but is NOT orthographic. Ambient/directional light and shadows.

Pointer drag accumulates horizontal displacement; camera group rotation eases by decaying accumulation. Must test actual drag before claiming observed. No audio functions. RequestAnimationFrame perpetual. Initial display16:9 (.5625height) but resize uses.6height without cameraaspectupdate; note as observedcode difference, not testedbug yet. Full source includes resizehandler. No externally downloaded artwork assets.

Next: original source interview, four original live views and current holding; no visual claims completed yet.

## Primary accounts and originals

Official interview corrected URL https://www.artblocks.io/articles/in-conversation-with-richard-lord read fully (Jeff Davis,26Aug2021). Relevant account: animation followed staticOctoGarden; earlier physics walking systems reimagined for realtime; teaching sine/vector/trigonometry; named influencesKarlSims/TheoJansen; variable arrangement/phasing forms waves. Limit derived essay paraphrase to200words fromthissource. Official projectpage read:Curated1000,release27Aug2021,click/touchdrag view explicitly advertised. Artist website broader portfolio read separately.

Four verified originals opened at generator URL exactcontract/token IDs. Two screenshots each, separated by intervening source/agentwork (~tens seconds, notpreciselytimed). #0: brown-grey ground, huge lavender chain separated upperleft from cluster of tiny lavender/cyan/cream articulated chains at right; huge chain curled upright then flattened into six triangular/prismatic segments, smallchainsindifferentphase. #1: scattered multicolour(yellow/teal/offwhite/red) spheres, blocks, arcs, segmentedchains; large spherefacetsrotate and halfcylinderroll/tip, chainscurl. #10: predominantly halfcylinder/trapezoidalrockingforms, huge offwhite/red/teal/yellow masses amongtinyones; orientationschange; groundgridstreams. #20: large peachrectangularblocksinregulararrangement, blackfaces, greyground; blockschangeorientation/positionacrossstates, closecropping. No claimsabout fullcyclefrequency. Controlsnotyettested. Needholding863freshprofile andoriginal.

Fresh AB5D profile retrieved and all3linkedwallets stored in evidence-initial.json. Exact held863 owner matchesdd193linkedwallet. Original863 directly viewed across multiple moments: charcoalgreen ground, mutedcyan, cream, black shapes; assorted arcs, boxes, halfrounds, triangulatedspheres and segmentedchains. Longsegmentedforms go from lowarches to tallverticalcolumns then bend; narrower slabs tip. Spatialfield stays recognizable;groundgridmoves. Header must autoplay original. Single simulateddrag via browser input produced no clearly verified camera change; control remains code/documentation-supported, not successful runtime-test claim. No audio code and none claimed heard.
