The work and its context

Pieces of Me builds a whole from bars, strokes and intervals. R4V3N’s arrangements can be sparse or densely subdivided, yet keep a recognisable relationship between individual parts and an enclosing compositional form. The irregular edges soften geometry without erasing it. The indexed edition contains 222 works and is project 222. ¹²

Conception and development

The artist describes the series through human identity: individuals differ in their constituent elements while sharing a common form. The available account is a conceptual statement rather than a detailed studio chronology. In the pictures, the metaphor is carried by combination and proportion rather than by a literal face. ¹³

How the work was constructed

The submitted script inspection identifies the runtime as js@na. Its account of the seed is: Hash selects stroke stacks and palette. These token-specific choices establish the parameters from which the drawing is generated. The code digest and retrieval locator remain in the research record. ⁴

The supplied inspection identifies stroke-stack and palette choices. In the outputs, those choices resolve into groups of horizontal and vertical marks, with subdivision and spacing making the groups more or less dense. The fine irregularity within an edge should be distinguished from the larger geometric plan. The records do not contain a sufficiently detailed derivation to identify a specific brush simulation or attribute every edge variation to a named routine. ¹²⁴

The mint

The supplied Art Blocks index records 222 minted works against a maximum of 222. Its first-token field gives 30 November 2021; activation is dated 2 December 2021; the scheduled-start field gives 9 December 2021; and completion is dated 9 December 2021. Full timestamps are retained in the evidence record. These fields describe different events and should not be collapsed into a single launch date. ²⁷

An earlier first mint does not establish a reserved or artist allocation. The supplied research does not classify those transactions or independently recover the original public unit price. No exact public sellout duration is asserted from the interval between index fields. ¹²

The supplied project record reports the artwork licence as CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. The linked terms should be read for their particular conditions; this artwork label is kept separate from rights in the artist’s program and its dependencies. Close reading of examples

The comparison uses editions 0, 1, 10 and 20, identified by their canonical token links. These form a small early-edition sample, not a statistical description of the whole series. ⁷⁹

In #0, five narrow upright bars lead into a stack of wider horizontal strokes. Blue, dark navy and orange distribute weight between the upper and lower sections. Pale gaps keep the stack from becoming one continuous block. ⁵

In #1, green and pale pink bands subdivide into small ranks of horizontal and vertical marks. The same rectangular field contains several scales of activity. What appears orderly at a distance becomes a sequence of changing internal rhythms. ⁵

In #10, two broad turquoise bars hover above a denser band of alternating violet and turquoise strokes. Three larger uprights below give the composition a leg-like support. The figure remains abstract, but its unequal divisions encourage bodily associations. ⁵

In #20, two golden bars and one navy bar occupy a largely open pale field. The drastic reduction makes proportion and spacing carry almost the entire composition. Beside #1, it shows how the series can sustain both abundance and restraint. ⁵

Significance and limitations

The strongest comparison is between subdivision and concentration. Many small parts need not make a more complex experience than three carefully spaced bars; both can make the viewer reconsider where a whole begins. ⁵
