Mighty Moose describes digital art as a means of expressing feelings that were difficult to articulate elsewhere. In a 2019 interview, the artist recalled more than a decade of digital experimentation, while identifying the creative community around early blockchain art as the catalyst for a newly independent practice.1 Rather than treating software as a neutral production system, Mighty Moose approaches familiar tools as an expressive assembly. Keynote, iMovie, Photoshop, photography, filters, and repeated transformations are combined through an exploratory process in which an image’s possibilities emerge through handling.1
That account positions the artist outside a narrow history of generative formalism. Mighty Moose’s work begins with observation, memory, and emotion, then subjects those materials to digital pressure. A later interview characterizes the practice as intentionally imperfect and rooted in a conviction that glitch can correspond to an imperfect world.2 Photography provides an important foundation. The artist has recalled an early fascination with disposable cameras, followed by increasingly private experiments with altered, grungy images and later professional experience in video editing and graphic design.2
From photograph to signal
Across Mighty Moose’s wider practice, motion and interference function as ways of thinking. beauty behind the tech began with a relative’s hand-drawn mandala, which the artist digitized, edited, animated, and layered with an animated Ethereum symbol.3 The Bolted City converts urban imagery into a continuously turning structure whose imagined stability depends on motion.4 These works make transformation visible. Their loops do not simply decorate a finished picture, but hold the image in a state of unresolved construction.
The artist’s photographic series likewise treats the captured object as raw material. objectified ptTWO #7 starts with a photograph of a dollar bill and introduces visual noise and restrained glitching.5 In another body of work, The exploration of the psychological interaction between code and DNA, AI-assisted images imagine encounters between human and machine psychology. The collection’s eighty-first work asks what reciprocal therapy between robots and humans might look like.6 Such projects reveal a recurring interest in how technological systems refract human feeling, belief, and value.
P:X and the serial image
Released through Art Blocks Factory on May 2, 2021, P:X consists of exactly 384 unique artworks.7 Its title reads like compressed notation, while its outputs extend Mighty Moose’s established attraction to color, fragmentation, rhythmic repetition, and unstable pictorial space. The project’s generative format shifts the locus of variation from manual iteration to a programmed system, yet the results remain connected to the artist’s broader vocabulary of layered signals and perceptual interruption.
The six views below demonstrate the collection’s breadth without reducing it to a single signature composition. Across the sequence, graphic elements behave as fragments in a visual syntax: repeated lines establish tempo, fields of color compete for depth, and sharp transitions make the image appear simultaneously constructed and disrupted. Each output is autonomous, but its meaning also depends on membership in a finite system of 384 editions. The collection therefore joins code-based variation to an existing practice concerned with how separate pieces can accumulate into a larger emotional or conceptual whole.

Imperfection as method
Mighty Moose has stated that art should convey a story or emotion, while allowing those stories and emotions a wide range.2 This principle helps explain the practice’s movement between intimate reflection, technological speculation, cryptocurrency culture, and playful image-making. It’s All Coming Together, for example, frames adoption and access as signs of an approaching future, using animated pop imagery to address technological optimism.8 The BlackRock Meeting instead stages a fictional encounter between Satoshi and financial executives, placing Bitcoin mythology inside a pointed institutional scenario.9
What connects these subjects is less a stable iconography than a method of productive disturbance. Images are photographed, layered, recolored, looped, or glitched until their initial coherence gives way to another kind of order. In P:X, this method becomes serial and computational. The collection is best understood not as a departure from Mighty Moose’s earlier work, but as a concise translation of its central proposition: imperfection can be structured, variation can carry feeling, and digital tools can expose the unstable relationships between lived experience and technical systems.
