The project belongs to Art Blocks Presents, and its outputs are organized through recurring attributes including glyphs, grids, palettes, columns, triangles, tubes, outlines, mountains, punch cards, and other primitives.4 These descriptors point to a modular system whose character emerges from selection, placement, interruption, and combination.
The compositions evoke diagrams, speculative alphabets, electronic interfaces, and fragments of modernist print design. Blocks of color establish a firm architectural ground, while circles, bars, lines, and letter-like signs introduce rhythm and ambiguity. Individual marks can resemble useful information, yet the images resist settling into a stable code. Their pleasure lies in the friction between apparent instruction and visual play.
This balance distinguishes the series from generative work built primarily around organic growth or painterly accumulation. Dautheribes instead makes structure visible. Grids align forms, columns establish cadence, and isolated glyphs interrupt the image like punctuation. Dautheribes's wider production clarifies the technical curiosity behind the Art Blocks project.
