The work and its context

Getijde turns a landscape into layered rhythms. Bart Simons combines wave-like lines with circular forms and changes of colour, allowing the same vocabulary to suggest sea, hills, weather and celestial bodies. The Dutch title means tide. The indexed edition contains 222 works and is project 226. ¹²

Conception and development

Simons describes making the system during a year largely spent indoors, motivated by a desire to escape. His project statement emphasises prolonged attention to details and suitability for both screens and prints. The resulting landscape offers an imagined elsewhere through repeated drawing rules. ¹³

How the work was constructed

The submitted script inspection identifies the runtime as p5@1.0.0. Its account of the seed is: Hash selects palette, rain, birds, stars, clouds, spacing and scene. These token-specific choices establish the parameters from which the drawing is generated. The code digest and retrieval locator remain in the research record. ⁴

The supplied inspection connects the token hash with the palette and wave configuration. Layered lines establish undulating bands, while circular forms and sky details introduce another scale. The returned traits include spacing and line-break choices as well as weather and celestial elements. These are useful descriptions of selected configurations; they do not substitute for an account of the exact curve equations, which the submitted notes do not recover. ¹²⁴

The mint

The supplied Art Blocks index records 222 minted works against a maximum of 222. Its first-token field gives 6 December 2021; activation is dated 10 December 2021; the scheduled-start field gives 17 December 2021; and completion is dated 17 December 2021. Full timestamps are retained in the evidence record. These fields describe different events and should not be collapsed into a single launch date. ²⁷

An earlier first mint does not establish a reserved or artist allocation. The supplied research does not classify those transactions or independently recover the original public unit price. No exact public sellout duration is asserted from the interval between index fields. ¹²

Copyright and licensing

The supplied project record reports the artwork licence as CC BY-NC 4.0. The linked terms should be read for their particular conditions; this artwork label is kept separate from rights in the artist’s program and its dependencies. The package does not establish a full history of earlier terms. ²⁸

No separate artist-code grant was established in the submitted record. The declared runtime, p5@1.0.0, is another rights object and its licence does not automatically license the artwork or artist program. Close reading of examples

The comparison uses editions 0, 1, 10 and 20, identified by their canonical token links. These form a small early-edition sample, not a statistical description of the whole series. ⁷⁹

In #0, yellow waves surround pink, mint and blue circular forms. Broken fine lines make the surface restless, while the smooth coloured shapes act as pauses. Several circles are partly concealed, encouraging a reading of overlapping hills or objects behind waves. ⁵

In #1, successive bands move through warm yellow and green into blue, violet and red. Dark circular interruptions stand out against the busy texture. The colour sequence gives the field a broad organisation beyond the many small undulations. ⁵

In #10, a large red-orange disc rises above dark green waves. Fine diagonal marks cross the sky and disc. A smaller yellow arc near the lower right introduces a second scale, preventing the large circle from being the only point of attention. ⁵

In #20, a pale disc dominates a grey sky above closely spaced black wave lines. Short dark horizontal marks interrupt its upper edge. An ochre circle below provides a restrained warm counterweight to the nearly monochrome field. ⁵

Significance and limitations

Getijde holds several readings in suspension. A circle can be a sun, moon or partly hidden landform, while a repeated line can indicate water or terrain. Its consistency makes those shifts possible without changing the underlying vocabulary. ⁵

The remaining research questions concern the original public price and allocations, earlier rights terms, and any procedural or live-behaviour details not established above. The supplied script digest identifies an indexed retrieval; it is not a pinned-block chain verification. These limits are retained in the research record.
